Welcome to Laavish Flower Academy!

Let me start by introducing myself and welcoming you to my Flower World.....

I'm Georgie Dion, the founder of "Laavish Flower Academy"

I Started out as a junior florist at one of the most exclusive florists in Adelaide, South Australia. After my 7 year internship, I branched out and opened my very own flower studio called 'Laavish Flower Studio' in the leafy eastern suburbs of Adelaide.

Very quickly I made a name for myself as one of the most contemporary, avant-garde and creative florists in Australia, servicing all the 5 star hotels in the city - Hilton, Hyatt, the Intercontinental, Mount Lofty House, Crown Plaza, Pullman Hotel, Rydges Hotel, Adabco Boutique Hotel and the Mayfair Hotel with impressive Hotel Lobby and window installations.

This led to even more corporate work for Laavish Flower Studio, so my team and I were in constant demand for even more corporate work, including major festivals and events for both the private and public sector. So, as they say, ‘time flies when your having fun’ and I realised that with my 26 years of experience in the industry I had alot of knowledge to pass on to those who were interested in the creative process of floral design. It all began in 2008 when I started my first flower school. I taught the Art of Floristry, the Principles and elements of Design and formally introduced cutting edge European techniques and design that I had learnt during all my years of experience !

Many of our students either continued on with their flower journey as a florist and some even opened up their very own flower shop too! For many years, we had a huge interest from students and clients, wanting to do more of our courses and asking if we were online.

This idea got me thinking....... I realised that I had a passion for teaching but in order to build an online academy I had to take a break from Laavish Flower Studio, we had so much work, there was no other way to make it happen.

I was at a crossroads. With the help and support of my amazing husband, Matej, who recognised my creative passion and love for floristry, we decided to set off on this adventure and make this dream happen!

So, it all began in 2019, when we made the life changing decision to move our little family from Australia to Europe. We are now based in Ljubljana, Slovenia – a beautiful city in the centre of Europe, which also happens to be my husband’s homeland .

This exciting move has given me the opportunity to rest, reflect and get even more creative. Both Matej and I hope to offer our students and future students from anywhere around the world the opportunity to learn the art of floristry at their own pace with our step by step tutorials and from the comfort of their own home
